A variety of imagery appears in the book: gorgeous blooming flowers, straight, gloomy trees, petal-sized blue-green birthmarks, bloody dying animals and flying birds, with sexual symbols but no deliberate emphasis on sensationalism. The author writes like a poem, capturing fleeting emotions to outline the helpless and painful fate of the characters, like a dark prophecy.
