ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Peru's National Prize for Literature

November 1984, Stuttgart Central Station. Anne Kahl, the secretary of a famous psychiatric clinic, leads a group of women who are about to hop on different trains, taking them to all corners of Germany. Anne has assumed the mission of setting them free. It is a clandestine operation. These women are Dr. Curtius Tauler's patients, who has discharged them after a rather unconventional treatment. For Anne, an undercover artist, liberating these women blurs the lines between reason and madness. Years later, her close friend, the writer Silvia Olaz'abal, tells her story.

With a rich prose and exquisite sensitivity, Teresa Ruiz Rosas shares the lives of these women, as well as those of Anne and Silvia in Europe and Peru. She closely looks at the deepest bonds of friendship and reflects on these life-changing events. All this, to compose a dazzling novel about the delirium of art: revolutionary and transgressive, deep and personal, just like this book.
