Bookloop Seller Terms and Conditions
Bookloop is a peer-to-peer used book marketplace operated by Bookabaloo ("Bookabaloo," "we," "us," "our"). These terms apply to anyone listing books for sale through Bookloop ("Seller," "you").
1. Eligibility
1.1. You must have an active Bookabaloo customer account, authenticated via Shopify's customer account system, to list a book for sale on Bookloop.
1.2. You must be at least 18 years old and reside in the USA.
1.3. Bookabaloo may suspend or terminate a Seller's access to Bookloop at its discretion for violation of these terms, fraud, repeated late shipment, or repeated condition misrepresentation.
2. Listing a Book
2.1. You may list a physical used book you own for sale, provided it meets one of the following two condition categories:
- Used - As New: the book is in flawless condition — no visible damage, marking, or wear. Effectively indistinguishable from a new copy.
- Used - Well Loved: the book shows visible signs of use (worn cover, minor marks, previous owner's name, light shelf wear) but does not have torn pages or cover, missing pages, water damage, mold, or damage to the spine or binding beyond normal wear.
2.2. Books that do not meet the "Used - Well Loved" standard — including torn, water-damaged, moldy, or incomplete copies — may not be listed under any condition and must not be shipped even if mistakenly listed and sold.
2.3. You are responsible for accurately representing the condition of your book. Misrepresenting a book's condition may result in a buyer dispute (see Section 6), reversal of the sale, and, for repeated or serious cases, suspension from Bookloop.
2.4. The sale price of your listing is set automatically by Bookabaloo based on the book's current retail list price and its condition category. Sellers may not set their own price.
2.5. Orders for a given book and condition combination are fulfilled in the order listings were created (oldest first). You cannot select which buyer or order your listing is matched to.
3. Sale, Packaging, and Shipping
3.1. Once your listed book is purchased, you will receive notice of the sale along with a prepaid shipping label. Bookabaloo covers the cost of shipping via this label.
3.2. You are responsible for packaging the book securely for shipment. Bookabaloo does not provide packaging materials.
3.3. You must ship the book within 48 hours of the sale being made. Shipment is considered complete once the package has been handed to the carrier and the prepaid label has been scanned or accepted for shipping.
3.4. If the book is not shipped within 48 hours, a penalty of $1.00 per day applies, accruing daily until the book is shipped.
3.5. If a book remains unshipped for more than 7 days from sale, Bookabaloo may cancel the sale, refund the buyer in full, remove the listing, and apply the accrued late penalty against the Seller's account. Repeated non-shipment may result in suspension from Bookloop.
3.6. Once shipped, tracking must be visible to Bookabaloo and the buyer through the prepaid label's carrier tracking. Sellers should retain proof of drop-off/postage until the sale is fully complete.
4. Buyer Confirmation and Payment Release
4.1. Payment for your sale is held by Bookabaloo until the buyer confirms receipt of the book, and 24 hours has passed after delivery with no dispute raised, whichever comes first.
4.2. If the buyer raises a dispute during this window — for example, that the book was not as described, was damaged in a way inconsistent with its listed condition, or never arrived — payment will be held pending resolution. See Section 6.
5. Commission, Fees, and Payout
5.1. Bookabaloo charges a commission of 20% of the sale price on every completed sale.
5.2. Once your sale is confirmed and released for payout (per Section 4), you choose how to receive your proceeds:
- Store credit: you receive the full sale price, with no commission or fee deducted, as Bookabaloo store credit, redeemable on new or used books.
- Cash payout via PayPal: you receive the sale price, less the 20% commission, less card processing costs (approximately 3%, the actual cost incurred on the original buyer payment), less the PayPal payout transaction fee. Cash payouts are made exclusively via PayPal.
5.3. Any late-shipment penalty accrued under Section 3.4 will be deducted from your payout before it is issued, in either credit or cash form.
6. Disputes and Returns
6.1. If a buyer disputes a book's condition, non-arrival, or any other issue within the confirmation window described in Section 4, Bookabaloo will review the dispute using available evidence (listing description, photos if provided, tracking information, buyer's report).
6.2. Sellers found to have repeatedly misrepresented condition or failed to ship may be suspended or permanently removed from Bookloop.
7. Ownership and Right to Sell
7.1. By listing a book, you confirm that you are the lawful owner of the physical copy and have the right to sell it.
7.2. You may not list stolen, counterfeit, library-owned, or otherwise unlawfully obtained books.
8. Taxes
8.1. You are responsible for any tax obligations arising from your use of Bookloop as a seller, including any obligations related to income received via store credit or PayPal payout.
9. Changes to These Terms
9.1. Bookabaloo may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Bookloop as a seller after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
